SMS Outreach is our most specialist programme. It consists of an entirely bespoke curriculum that is tailored to the young person’s needs and individual interests. Students are carefully matched with key workers who will educate them at home or in one of our community hubs. All of the education packages are designed, planned and quality assured by qualified teachers and are reviewed on a weekly basis.
Students may be educated on their own or alongside carefully chosen peers. Outreach packages generally involve a much higher level of therapeutic and pastoral support and are suitable for students with a wide range of SEMH needs. Students with DOLS, high risk assessments, high anxiety or school refusers may be suitable for the Outreach programme. All students at SMS outreach can be referred to the SMS BMindful therapeutic team of highly qualified psychologists and specialist therapists.
Curriculum
All students on the Outreach pathway study English and Maths unless the LA have requested otherwise. Other subjects are chosen based on the young person’s individual requirements. Please see our curriculum page for further details.
The Outreach pastoral offer is fully bespoke. Previous students have chosen options such as fishing, rock climbing, forest schools, music, beauty, construction and animal care.
